After the exciting announcement of Super Mario World being built in Japan, Orlando, Singapore, and Hollywood, fans were already counting down until its opening in 2023. However, due to construction halting at the park, it was announced recently that Super Nintendo World would be delayed until 2025 along with Epic Universe. Super Nintendo World was the first franchise planned for the theme park in addition to the entertainment, restaurants, and hotel. Now, fans will have to wait four more long years before its opening.
While this news is disappointing, according to reports in the Orlando Sentinel, Comcast officials are hopeful construction will go smoothly despite the setbacks allowing the theme park to be opened on time. They are estimating that the video game theme park will do well based on the demand for the Super Mario World Japan even though its opening date has been delayed as well due to Covid-19 regulations.
In the last few months, Super Mario World Japan has created video tours and sneak peeks. The videos featured Mario Kart rides and interactive Power-Up Bands that guests can purchase to use as they walk throughout the park. These bands allow guests to battle characters such as Bowser Jr., complete challenges, and other activities. While there has not been a lot of confirmed rides at Super Mario World Orlando, two main rides–Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge and Yoshi’s Adventure–will be the main ride attractions to the park. Fans can also expect the Power-Up Bands to be present as well.
In addition to the video game-themed rides, there is will also be a variety of cafes where you can buy Mario’s Hat-shaped pancake sandwiches, matching Mario and Luigi drinks, and popcorn buckets. Depending on which theme park you attend the food may vary somewhat, however, fans regardless of which location they choose will be able to find iconic Mario-themed food.
Unfortunately, fans simply have to wait a little bit longer for the Mario-themed rides and food coming to Orlando, but fans can still expect an amazing experience from the Super Nintendo World.
