Developer Metalhead Software has recently announced that their upcoming title Super Mega Baseball 2 which was supposed to release next month for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC will be delayed until Spring 2018 which will be when the next MLB season begins. The developer stated that they have been working tirelessly to finish the game but at this current time there are features that are still not finished.
They said in an email to fans, “Where we’re sitting now, to release it by September would mean having to a cut a lot of corners. And we do not want to give you a game that you won’t be happy with.” They also released a new video containing the game’s lineup and roster management system “to make up for the bad news.” The developer also stated that they would be able to complete the game by the end of this year but also stated that they have learned from their mistakes from the release timing of the original Super Mega Baseball.
“We released the original Super Mega Baseball in December so we know from experience that baseball in winter is a tough sell.” Even though the delay is bad news for some the studio believes that the extra time will do great justice for the game. “We know that this is disappointing news for some, and we’re sorry to have gotten your hopes up for September,” it continued. “We are committed to making the best game we can with the resources available to us, and the end of the day we think you’ll get a better game out of this.”
