Sumo Digital and 2K Games have announced they are partnering up for multiple new projects. However, there was no indications as to what these games would be only that they . These projects will be developed at Sumo Digital’s Sheffield studio as well as the recently acquired Red Kite Games in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Sumo Digital’s Managing Director Gary Dunn also commented on the partnership.
We’re delighted to be working with 2K and look forward to disclosing details of the projects in due course.
Though no information was given as to what these unannounced projects will be, PCGamer found job listings for Sumo Digital’s Sheffield studio that may give an indication as to what, at least, one of the projects are. According to a posting for a technical director, the company is looking for someone to work on “an exciting new IP with one of the world’s biggest publishers.” The company is specifically looking for someone with “experience in a senior role developing a first-person action game” as well as “experience in games as a service.”
There are multiple other job postings that request similar qualifications as well as mentioning multiplayer. Thus, the project being worked on at Sumo Digital’s Sheffield studio for the partnership with 2K Games could be a live service action game. This would make sense as live service games have been one of the most prominent types of games that have released during this console generation.
On the other hand, no hints have been found as to what project is in development at Red Kite Games. The studio has helped work on a variety of different types of games prior to being acquired by Sumo Group including titles in the God of War and Call of Duty franchises. Thus, their unannounced project could be anything in any genre. It will be interesting to see what games come out of this partnership and when they’ll release.
