With E3 2020 canceled, it leaves many developers with trying to figure out what to do next. Some developers and publishers have already announced that they plan to hold a digital event in place of their E3 press conference. Others will not be doing anything such as Bethesda who recently announced that they wouldn’t be having a digital event. IGN has announced an event of its own called Summer of Gaming. The event will begin in June where developers will be showcasing new looks at upcoming games and the next-generation of consoles.
Announced to be participating in the event include 2k, Square Enix, SEGA, Bandi Namco, Amazon, Google Stadia, Twitter, Devolver Digital, THQ Nordic, and more. Summer of Gaming will include publisher presentations, remote developer interviews, hands-on demos, preview impressions, gameplay, and news segments recapping the biggest announcements. IGN’s global coverage spans 112 countries and 25 languages and will be available to watch on more than 20 platforms so everybody who wants to enjoy the experience can.
Speaking about the Summer of Gaming digital event, Peer Schneider, Chief Content and Product Officer at IGN said: “With the next generation of console gaming kicking off later this year and gamers eager to learn more about what games they’ll be playing on their new hardware, our online event will be a key moment for publishers and developers to connect with the audience worldwide.”
EVP, and General Manager at IGN, Yael Prough added: “More and more people are turning towards video games for entertainment and escapism. Last week we saw new records for traffic across all of our platforms – we’re excited to bring this global, digital event to our audiences and partners – as this will be an event not to be missed.”
More details about the event of who else will be participating will be coming soon.
