At Summer Games Fest, we got to go hands-on with Coin Crew Games’ upcoming escape game in Escape Academy 2. Following the success of the first game, the developers have made the second game even bigger and better. This time around, the game isn’t just about escape rooms, but escape rooms and puzzles all throughout the school. We got to go hands-on with the game in two player split screen and it was a lot of fun.

The demo we played started us in a sealed classroom with the typical escape room scenario of escape before the time runs out. This felt like a real escape room with having to solve puzzles, and being able to play co-op made it a lot easier as one player was able to solve a puzzle while the other player was able to enter the results into the designated area. Some puzzles were more difficult than others, but we felt silly when they had such obvious solutions, and we got to laugh about it and celebrate our victory together.

After escaping the classroom, we got to go into the school itself and were tasked with multiple quests we had to get done to start our year at the academy such as finding our locker and buying our books. The main quests aren’t the only things you’ll be doing throughout your time in the school. Other students, and even a cat, are scattered throughout the school and some will have side quests for you like one having us fix a trophy case that another student had knocked over.The side quests rewarded us with money.

The school itself is one big escape room and you must solve puzzles to progress further into the school and by finding color coded hall passes. Want your books? You have to solve a puzzle to unlock them, and then have to buy them. In our short time with the game,we weren’t able to solve all the puzzles, but it kept reminding me of growing up playing escape room flash games like the Riddle School series, and made me want to play more.

Escape Academy 2 looks to be another fun escape game, and will be something you can thoroughly enjoy playing with your friends. The game is set to release at some point in the future.
