The independent film studio Blumhouse has officially launched into the gaming industry with the announcement of first lineup of games during the 2024 Summer Game Fest. Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum appeared to make the announcement.
Blumhouse Games president Zach Wood shared his excitement on the lineup and towards the independent developers that they partners with to make these games happen, according to the press release.
“We’re blown away by the teams who are creating our first slate of games, and truly couldn’t be more proud to partner with strong, independent game creators who are bringing unique ideas to the horror genre,” said Wood.
Blumhouse Games lineup includes six games:
The first, developed by Perfect Garbage, is a farm and town sim called Grave Seasons. Players are tasked to figure out which villager is the resident supernatural serial killer.
Sleep Awake, developed by EYES OUT, is a post-apocalyptic first-person horror game set in the last known city on Earth. Player take control of Katja as she traverses the deadly world to stop the horror of The Hush.
Fear the Spotlight, developed by Cozy Game Pals, is a horror game inspired by 90s teen horror. Players take the role of Vivian and Amy, as they solve the mystery of a decades old school tragedy while trying to survive a seance gone wrong. Fear the Spotlight is set to release sometime this year.
Developed by Vermila, Crisol: Theater of Idols is a first-person horror adventure game set in a nightmarish version of Spain. Players must survive against a world steeped in a supernatural horror, that is eager to take you down.
The Simulation, developed by Playmestudio, players take control of a a retired game designer turned private investigator hired to investigate a murder case. When a unknown horror game is unearthed among the evidence, the player is sent down a rabbit hole that threatens to bend reality as they know it.
Besides Fear the Spotlight, many of these games release dates are still unknown. More information will likely be revealed sometime later this year.
