Summer Games Done Quick Details Get Finalized

After Game’s Done Quick’s initial summer event was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns, the charity marathon was then moved to Sunday, August 16th. Despite the many obstacles that had to be overcome to make this event 100% online and available for everyone, the final details for this summer’s charity event were finalized and announced on their website.

Like usual, the event runs all day (the full 24-hours) for a full week (from the 16th to the 23rd). The proceeds from this event will go to Doctors Without Borders, charity that they have raised money for in the past, and the same organization that was donated to in the extra April Event. While this event no longer has any physical aspect to it, people who are interested can stream the entire time on the official Twitch channel. For those that cannot make each and every stream to watch, they will all be uploaded on YouTube after the event is already finished.

While the full schedule is already available for people to read and prepare for. The highlights for this year’s charity event seem to be Super Mario Odyssey, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Castlevania 2: Belmont Revenge, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Along with those, the highlighted times and events taken place on the schedule are as follows,

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt ( 9:47 PM P, August 17th)
  • The Last of Us (9:55 PM PT,  August 19th)
  • Half-Life Alyx (6:27 PM PT, August 20th)
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake (9:51 AM PT, August 22nd)

Towards the end of the event, more specifically on the final day, there is a time slot carved out for what is called “Super Smash Bros: Break the Target, All Characters Blindfolded”. While there are no details surrounding this specific event, there is also another time slot carved out for what is called “100% Run of Super Metroid”, and an “Any % run of Pokemon Shield”. The most daunting of these events looks to be a seven-hour and twenty-minute speedrun of the Final Fantasy VII Remake (the one highlighted above).
