Summer Game Fest 2026: Hot Wheels Infinite Rush Preview: Living in a World Designed for Toy Cars

Who else grew up as a kid playing with Hot Wheels and having  tons of the tracks around the house? I know it wasn’t just me! Thus, when Milestone announced their next game in the toy car universe, Hot Wheels Infinite Rush, during the Summer Game Fest showcase, I was teleported back to my childhood. Then, we got to go hands on with the game during Summer Game Fest, and my excitement for the game grew even more.

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush is an open island racer where players are transported into a Hot Wheels world where everything is designed for the toy cars. The developers want the game to feel Toy Story-esque with a living toy world, and, honestly, they did a great job in the short amount of the game that we saw. The game itself has four different islands you can visit with plenty of activities you can do. The developers stressed that they designed the game with the idea of making players want to explore and collect everything on the islands. It is easy to swap between islands as well as you just go to the airport icon to travel. In what was the funniest moment of Summer Game Fest for me, I totally expected the car to board a Hot Wheels plane to travel. However, you just launch off a ramp and fly to the next island. This caught me off guard and got a genuine laugh when it happened.

Exploring the biggest thing in Hot Wheels Infinite Rush. Scouring the islands unveils a plethora of activities to do such as races, photo ops, and destruction events. There’s plenty to collect as well. Hot Wheels Infinite Rush features over 150 cars for players to collect through various ways. All the cars are placed into one of four types: Versatile, Speedsters, Titans, and Drifters with each of the types having a specific use or purpose. For example you wouldn’t take a Titan to a Daredevil race as it is too bulky and slow compared to a Speedster car. In the world, you are able to switch between the types of cars at the press of a button.

Level editing will return in Hot Wheels Infinite Rush as the track maker will make its return. While we didn’t see it in action, the track maker will give players the opportunity to build their own custom tracks to race on. If you were a Hot Wheels  kid or played the previous Hot Wheels games that Milestone has made, this is music to your ears.

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush is set to release on September 24, 2026 for PlayStation 5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series S|X.
