Summer Game Fest 2024: Among Us Creators Innersloth Create Outersloth, a Fund for Indie Games

Innersloth is an indie game company that created the Henry Stickman collection, but is probably most popular for its stream sensation Among Us, and indeed Among Us has been such a smash hit that it has survived to this day, surprising longevity and an amount of popularity that has allowed the Among Us IP to even host an animated series as announced today at the Summer Games Fest. But beyond that, Innersloth has expanded enough that they’ve also announced Outersloth, a fund dedicated to powering other indie games.

First of the games funded by Outersloth is Mars First Logistics by Shape Shop, an exploration game seemingly following a rover on Mars.

Alongside Mars is Trinket Studios’ Battle Suit Aces, a card battler RPG with fantastic art and an interesting premise, following characters in the titular Battle Suit mechas.

There is also Mossfield Archives by Studio Any Percent, an exploration game with a comfy pastel colored artstyle.

Lastly is Midnight Munchies’ One BTN Bosses, a single button boss rush game with a demo out now.

There is also Huskrafts’ Rogue Eclipse, a space flight roguelike where you can customize and then pilot your ship through epic interstellar battles.

Lastly, in early development, is Outer Loop Games’ Project Dosa where you pilot a mech as well as cook for friendly NPCs while fighting off corpos.

Any one of these games could become the next Among Us, but they’re a field of very diverse and different ideas funded by one of the most successful indie brands of all time. This insane act of charity from Innersloth is quite frankly astounding, and a great sign for the indie scene of video game development altogether. If more ultra successful indie developers put a little money back into the scene as Innersloth has done with Outersloth then the future is really looking bright for smaller developers looking to get a foothold in the industry.

Derek Lairmore: I've been playing video games and writing my entire life, so naturally I decided to combine the two passions. I love video games and video game culture, as far back as I can remember I've not only played them, I've actively participated in their communities. I hope my history in this hobby and my enthusiasm for writing helps me convey news to you accurately and succinctly.
