Rocksteady Studios, creators of the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham series are going to be developing the upcoming DC Comics game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game will be available worldwide in 2022 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC and is a third-person shooter that is both can be played solo or a four-person co-op. The story follows Suicide Squad members Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark set in the open-world space that is Metropolis. The ragtag team of criminals is tasked with the impossible mission to game end the DC Universe’s best heroes.
“Our team is excited to officially announce Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and provide a glimpse into our latest project,” said Sefton Hill, Creative Director and Co-founder, Rocksteady Studios. “We’re introducing an original take on the Suicide Squad that combines the rich, character-driven storytelling Rocksteady is known for with innovative gameplay features to create a unique gaming experience.” The single-player experience will allow the player to jump between each member of the team. Each character will have their own unique skills and attack patterns. The styles are meant to mirror the personality of each DC villain “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League showcases Rocksteady Studios’ ability to combine masterful storytelling and compelling gameplay based on well-known DC characters,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Games. “The team is creating a genre-defining experience that brings the formidable Suicide Squad to life in a way that has never been done before.” The team is leveraging Rocksteady Studios’ history with the Batman: Arkham games to craft the story’s narrative while the co-op mechanics is a new take for the team as the Arkham games focused on the solo Batman experience over any form of team play.
