Earlier this year, we saw the official reveal of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the next chapter in developer Rocksteady’s Arkhamverse but it was met with a lukewarm reception. Many in the gaming community were not happy about the live service elements that were leaked and the fact that the game requires an online connection. Following the gameplay showcase during the State of Play in February, the game got delayed again. The game was set for release in 2022 before being delayed to May 26, 2023, and then to later this year. Today, Rocksteady has announced that the game is being delayed yet again. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is now set to release on February 2, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Rocksteady took to Twitter and said “we have made the tough but necessary decision to take the time needed to work on getting the game to be the best quality experience for players. Thank you to our amazing community for the continued support, patience, and understanding. There is so much to share in the months ahead and we look forward to seeing you in Metropolis next year.”
Following the State of Play, a report revealed that the game was delayed in order to further polish the game. There wouldn’t be a rework of any of its live service elements. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier reported the news and made it clear that the “core game isn’t changing.”
VGC editor Andy Robinson commented on the situation at the time and said that the devs were positive on the gameplay of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. “It’s interesting, because some of the people I’ve spoken to who are working on that game actually have a lot of positive things to say about it, especially compared to Gotham Knights. “I’ve been told that this is not another Gotham Knights, that everyone who’s working on it is actually quite optimistic about the combat loops they’ve made and the game world and things like that. So from what I’ve heard, I’d kind of be surprised if they’re really rebuilding it in any significant way because it sounds quite positive.”
We’ll have to wait and see whether or not anything major changes for the game when it comes out next year.
