Suda 51 Reveals Shadows of the Damned Remastered Will Launch in 2024, Says it Will be a “Lively Year”

Apparently 2024 is going to a very fun time for Grasshopper Manufacture. The CEO of the studio, Goichi Suda, also known famously as Suda 51, stated that 2024 will be “lively year” for them as they have a fair amount of projects in the works. One of these is Shadows of the Damned Remastered, which he initially revealed this in Summer 2023, but didn’t say when we should expect the title. Suda 51 has now clarified that the title will launch sometime in the coming year.

On top of that, Suda 51 also mentions that they are working on yet another brand new title. Considering that absolutely wild range that Suda has in his creativity, it’s anyone’s guess as to what this new IP will be about. Suda also briefly mentioned this during his special broadcast back in June, which featured a single image on a tiny television screen, which is the most Suda 51 thing we’ve ever seen. Suda’s colleague Ren Yamazaki also stated that the studio will have “something” to announce sometime in 2024 as well.

As for Shadows of the Damned, it’s very interesting to see Suda revisit this IP, as it isn’t exactly a title that many people remember or usually associate him with in recent years. Released in 2011, the game is an action adventure RPG that was a collaboration effort between Suda 51 and Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. What resulted was an unique mishmash of styles, with Suda’s humor mixed with Mikami’s horror/survival third person mechanics. The plot see’s main protagonist Garcia Hotspur, voiced by the legendary Steve Blum, travel to the underworld in order to save his girlfriend from the Lord of Demons. Hopefully, we’ll have a much more concrete date for Shadows of the Damned Remastered in the foreseeable future, as well as the other titles that the studio is working on.
