Today, publisher Nacon released a video showing off the new release date for the upcoming new installment in the Styx series, Styx: Blades of Greed. The game was first announced earlier in 2025, leading many to wonder how the game would iterate on the previous games in the newest console generation. The game had previously been set to release at some point during 2025, which has now been pushed back to the concrete date of February 19th, 2026.

The release date trailer for Styx: Blades of Greed offers players a look at the game’s graphical capabilities while guards search for the title character, a goblin named Styx. In previous material, Styx had been seen changing his various wanted posters from “The Green Plague” to his preferred title, claiming that “The Master of Stealth is back!” This is worked into the reveal trailer, as the camera pans to show the wanted trailer with a crossed-out date of 2025, replaced by 2026 in Styx’s red ink. The trailer ends by showing the confirmed release date and Styx proclaiming, “I just like making you wait,” to reinforce the bittersweet news for fans.

Since the game’s reveal, the developers have also given additional information regarding the stealth mechanics of the game. Styx will encounter both intelligent enemies, capable of cooperating with one another and calling for help when threatened, and beasts, focused on senses and aggression. Players are encouraged to engage each enemy thoughtfully, analyzing and memorizing the best way to sneak around or take down each foe.

Despite the news of the delay, comments on the release date trailer indicate that fans are happy to wait so long as the game releases at its full potential. Given how crass the Styx persona has been in the marketing for the game, he likely wouldn’t have been affected by complaints. Fans will see if Styx: Blades of Greed lives up to their expectations when the game releases early in 2026.
