It’s no secret that streamers and influencers hold more sway over every industry now more than ever before (hence the “influencer” name) and they take every opportunity to remind us through sponsored streams and in video ads but it seems that, occassionally, one of these streamers has enough passion for something they play that they’re willing to try and make real moves in their industry, such as Kai Cenat with FromSoft’s ever popular Souls series, specifically their Bloodborne IP in this case.
Kai Cenat goes out of his way to declare that he’s bringing the topic to the spotlight, knowing that From Software has paid close attention to his streams of their games (even gifting him a giant Malenia statue). With their attention he pleads to FromSoft to bring Bloodborne to the PC or the Playstation 5, some sort of updated remaster to appease the Bloodborne diehards, who have been asking for such a remaster for a long long time. Kai even says that fans don’t even want much, mainly just upscaled graphics if that, (though most Bloodborne fans will say they’ll happily take the PS4 graphics in exchange for 60fps).
Sadly, the Bloodborne IP is under the thumb of Sony, not FromSoft themselves, and Sony is well aware of how much of a beloved title Bloodborne is and likely won’t port the game to the PC anytime soon. As for the Playstation 5, that’s much more likely, and it’s a surprise that it hasn’t happened already. It should be noted that the Playstation 5 is probably about halfway through its life cycle, if we were compare it to the Playstation 4’s time in circulation, so Sony may just be holding onto the huge Bloodborne Remaster trump card as a launch title for an upcoming Playstation 6, though this is just speculation.
Regardless, it seems that there are no plans for a Bloodborne remaster anytime soon, but with huge influencers like Kai Cenat constantly bringing attention to the topic it’s likely FromSoft and even Sony themselves might address the reasons why it hasn’t happened yet.
