Strange Pokemon And Ultra Beasts Revealed In Newest Sun And Moon Trailer

Today, The Pokémon Company released a brand new trailer for Pokémon Sun and Moon and it looks like there are some strange things happening in Alola. We turn to the Pokémon website for all the answers.

Let’s kick it off with Type: Null, no that isn’t the Missingno for the modern generation, but an honest to Arceus new creature. Type: Null has a very similar origin to Mewtwo, another powerful Pokémon. Type: Null was constructed to combat an unknown threat, possibly the Ultra Beasts, more on that later. It’s hind legs look different from its front legs because Type: Null was created to synthesise the strength of other Pokémon, allowing it to adapt to any situation. The mask it wears is why it’s called Null the mask covers its face, but it also serves to contain the Pokémon’s latent power. Due to its weight, the mask also lowers Type: Null’s agility.

Type: Null was created to combat extremely powerful Pokémon and while it’s likely that Type: Null was created to fight Solgaleo and Lunala, this gen’s star Pokémon, it’s mission could be to fight the mysterious Ultra Beasts.

Ultra Beasts are new creatures with incredible power. They are so strong that they pose a threat to humans and Pokémon alike. There are rumors that there are multiple Ultra Beasts out there, but for right now we only know about one. They all go by code names, potentially given by the Aether Foundation, a company that researches the beasts.

The first Ultra Beast is codenamed UB-01 and its glass-like body seems to change at will. It’s unknown if this creature is sentient but those that have seen it say its movements resemble that of a little girl.

The Aether Foundation is the opposite of the typical Pokémon “team”. The group is dedicated to the care of injured Pokémon and have even created an artificial island called “Aether Paradise” for that very reason.

The trailer also showed off a new Dragon-type named Jangmo-o. It’s a valiant Pokémon, a warrior at heart, but humble about its abilities. It uses the scales on its head for both attack and defence and because of this Jangmo-o will never turn its back on enemies.

In the last trailer, players were introduced to the Alolan variant for Rattata and now we get to see Alolan Raticate. Much like Rattata, Raticate is a Dark/Normal-type. Due to its diet of high-class foods, Alolan Raticates are heavier than its counterpart.

As with all dual Pokémon games, the two versions differ in certain ways, Sun and Moon are no different. One of the changes is that players will face different Totem Pokémon. For example, in the Verdant Cave on Melemele Island players face a Gumshoo as the Totem Pokémon in Sun and Raticate in Moon. The two games will also start twelve hours apart. Moon will start at night and Sun will start during the day.

Both games will feature two new side quests. The first is essentially Pokémon Snap, players travel around Alola taking pictures of the local wildlife and are graded on the picture’s quality. The second tasks players with collecting Zygarde cells and cores in order to combine them into the original Pokémon we met in X and Y.

Pokémon Sun and Moon will be out on November 18th for all Nintendo handhelds.
