Stranded: Alien Dawn Drops on PC and Console

Today Frontier Foundry, the label behind Surviving Mars, released their newest game, Stranded: Alien Dawn on PC and console for $34.99. Players who purchase the game before May 9th will receive exclusive bonus content. Not even available day, Stranded: Alien Dawn has already received positive reviews. The game has previously been available to players in early access, but with the full game finally out, players will have access to “rich new content challenges players to select the ultimate team of survivors and succeed against all odds, by constructing an Ansible Relay to enable interstellar communications.

Stranded: Alien Dawn is an intergalactic simulation where players explore an alien planet and fend off extraterrestrial threats. As explained in a press release from Frontier Foundry, “forging the story of their survivors, the player’s every decision could make or break the fate of the small, marooned group. As they adjust to their unprecedented circumstances, survivors must defend against alien wildlife attacks, grapple with unusual illnesses, and protect themselves against extreme weather to do just that: survive.” Not only must players defend their characters, but they must also maintain the mind, body, and spirit of their intrepid explorer. In fact, players must be sure to care for their characters emotionally, “not only caring for their basic needs but providing opportunities for relaxation and entertainment for optimal happiness and productivity.”

One key feature of Stranded: Alien Dawn is management simulation. Players must manage and maintain a base on their new alien home: “As the survivors work to transform their crash site into a thriving base, they must salvage and craft their way from a basic shelter to a high-tech fortress with automated defenses. Whether crash-landing on the lush mountains of Sobrius or the dry canyons of Desertum, each region offers an array of vibrant flora and fauna, along with natural resources which can be researched and exploited to ensure the group can flourish in their unforgiving new surroundings.”

Reception to Stranded: Alien Dawn’s comprehensive simulation of a crash landing on an alien planet has been positive. The game currently holds a 9/10 stars on Steam, with Rock Paper Shotgun concluding that “Stranded: AD may not contain an entire galaxy’s worth of possibilities, but it knows how to keep you curious about your little patch of land, and it’s a pleasure to watch your survivors feast on the fruits of their labour–whether they be beefberries, graincob, or buttermelons.”
