Developer and publisher Netmarble has recently announced the opening of global pre-registrations for its game StoneAge: Pet World. The game will be released on mobile as a massive pet-brawl RPG title.
The announcement was followed by the game’s first teaser video, lasting mere 22 seconds but revealing large portions of the gameplay. The video pans over multiple villages, showcasing a character collecting resources, suggesting that different villages may have different resources to offer players. The second part of the teaser reveals a number of enemies in a top-down view, hinting at a top-down side-scrolling RPG. Finally, the game shows that the pets and player characters can be arranged into different orders on the map, whilst also showcasing a few of the pets that were already designed. There appears to be some form of tiger, a blue T-Rex-like pet, a dragon with two heads, a two-legged dragon with wings, a shorter red monster with large spikes, and a monster with a large horn.
According to a press release, players who register for the game can get two free pets, and every in-game item will be unlocked. Pre-registration typically comes with other rewards, so players can expect other forms of in-game compensation for showing their interest in the game. Rewards will likely revolve around pet mounting, capturing, and hybrid battles with pets as well as trainers. While those mechanics have been revamped, their fundamental gameplay loop should remain similar, with new systems such as clans and boss raids being added to the game.
The original StoneAge IP launched in 1999 with a player base of over 200 million players. The new game is expected to retain the original franchise’s charm and gameplay while attracting a new audience. Players can pre-register directly on the game’s website, App Store, or on Google Play to experience a classic franchise.
