Stick With The Good Stuff

The GameStick, a Kickstarter-funded Android console similar to the Ouya, will hit retail stores in September.

The GameStick raised over $647,658 on Kickstarter (well over its original goal of $100,00). Its big selling point is its price ($79) and its size, which makes even the diminutive Ouya look like a beast; it’s basically the size of a thumb drive, and plugs into your TV via HDMI. It also comes with a modern-yet-retro controller, which our editor Ben Reeves felt was a bit uncomfortable in this hands-on preview.

Word is now that the console will be shipping on September 30th, which is confirmed by pre-order pages on retail sites. It will likely be shipped to Kickstarter backers prior to going to retail.
