It looks like the most hyped game for the last three years is leaving a few fans a bit disappointed. According to a thread on NeoGAF, players are trying to return their copies of No Man’s Sky, and they’re getting their money back. Normally this wouldn’t be too strange, however, some of them are returning the game after they’ve played it for two hours which isn’t allowed.
As it stands, players have a two-hour window where they can try out the game and return it if they don’t like it. This is done so that people play the game, beat it, then return it. In the case of No Man’s Sky, certain players realized that it took a bit longer to find out that the game wasn’t what they paid for.
In an article on Polygon, it’s said that people are citing poor performance on PC and the lack of promised features in the game. It’s true that the game did have poor launch on PC with the game suffering from frame rate drops and graphical issues. There was also the business with two players not being able to see each other despite them being on the same planet at the same time.
One user on NeoGAF justified the return by saying that fifty hours in the game is nothing compared to the hundreds of hours that were expected. He also mentioned that other give you a month to try out the product and still return it for a full refund.
50 hours for what No Man’s Sky promised to be is nothing. A drop in the hat. A lot of people were expecting to play this game for hundreds and hundreds of hours. The game wasn’t as advertised. Many products give you a month or more for a full refund and this in my opinion is no different.
It’s not just Steam that’s allowing refunds either, NeoGAF also says that players are getting refunds from storefronts like GOG, Amazon, PSN, and Humble Bundle. The thread doesn’t specify whether you needed to have purchased the digitally or not.
