After beta tested completed, Steam has introduced a few new cart features that will help provide a seamless experience for users. It also brought new features for developers and players alike. Beta testing began in December, with users of the Steam Client Beta. The new features should be available to users when they log into their account from Desktop, Mobile, or Steam Deck.
The biggest change that occurred with the Steam Client was that users are now able to private games in their library when they purchase them. This allows only users to be the only ones to see a particular game that they have purchased. When users purchase a game, they can choose to have the game private in their library. They can also go into their library that has their current games and private those as well. This means that not even the user’s friends can see activity with the games that are private in their library. To mark a game private, users go into their game page settings menu in manage.
One of the biggest changes that allows for ease of use for players is that the cart is able to be the same across all devices. This was not a feature previously. When users went onto their mobile devices, the store’s cart was not the same as the one on their desktop. Steam Deck is included as well. With this addition, players can have a more seamless experience especially with the Steam Deck.
Other smaller changes include inline gifting. Users can now gift to multiple people in one go. Many improvements were made over the course of beta from feedback that testers had given. The initial blog post reminds users to continue to send feedback to Steam so that they can continue to improve the store. These new features give more privacy to the user and more comfort when purchasing certain games.
