Players will be brimming with joy as an enormous variety of indie and AAA games go on sale tomorrow during Steam’s 2021 Winter Sale. It’s like a gift that keeps on giving! Well, until the sale event ends, that is. This year’s Steam Winter Sale will start on Dec. 22, 2021, at 10 am PST and run until Jan. 5, 2022. Valve first announced the date for the Winter Sale a while back, along with dates for their previous sale events this year, on Steamworks. Although Steamworks is mainly used by game developers to stay up to date with Steam’s sale events, the information regarding the planned sale dates is also available to the public. Likewise, Steam will most likely announce the start of their Winter Sale tomorrow on Twitter, as they usually make announcements regarding their sales events on the event’s starting day.
During the 2021 Steam Winter Sale, players will also have the chance to vote for a game nominee finalist for this year’s sixth Steam Awards in ten different categories. Previously, players were given the opportunity to nominate their favorite games for the Steam Awards during Steam’s 2021 Autumn Sale. Steam recently announced the final nominees for the Steam Awards on Steam, where they revealed the nominees every day from 10 am and 4 pm PST starting on Dec. 17 until today, Dec. 21, on Twitter. If you want to participate in the voting process, make sure to get your vote in before the winners get announced on Jan. 3, 2022, at 10 am PST.
Steam’s Winter Sales are arguably the most anticipated sale events of the year for Valve, which means there is a high chance that Valve will see a more significant number of players this Christmas weekend than they saw during Thanksgiving weekend. Last month, Steam broke the record for their concurrent player count over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, reaching a peak of 27,384,959 concurrent players. Perhaps Steam might break a record once again as this is the last major sale event of the year.
