State Of Play June 2025: Sword Of The Sea, Giant Squid’s Next Game, Is Releasing On August 19, 2025

During the State of Play, developer Giant Squid, the visonaries behind ABZÛ, The Pathless, and Journey, has announced that its next title Sword of the Sea is set to launch on August 19, 2025.

In Sword of the Sea, players are on a quest to unveil the ancient sea buried beneath the land. As they carve their way forward on the ancient and powerful Hoversword, which moves like a snowboard, skateboard, and surfboard all in one, players will discover the remnants of a lost culture hidden in skatepark-like ruins, and transform sandy dunes into glittering, emerald waters teeming with life.

Sword of the Sea features the unique artistic design of creative director Matt Nava and beautiful music composed by Austin Wintory.

In addition to releasing on PlayStation 5 Pro, PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, Sword of the Sea will also be available for PlayStation Plus Permium and Extra members.
