Well it’s almost been 20 years since Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions came out so I guess it’s about time for the Final Fantasy Tactics game to get another remaster. Return to the land of Ivalice with Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, revealed at Sony’s State of Play.
This updated version of Final Fantasy Tactics comes with a few new bells and whistles such as full voice acting, a fancy updated UI, and graphic improvements to the sprite work. Plus, the benefit of being on modern platforms so you don’t have to dust off your PS1 or PSP to play it.
But that updated version is only one side of the coin. If you’d prefer no voice acting, or the older script of War of the Lions as well as the classic old UI during combat. Be on notice, then, that “older script” means that the updated version of Final Fantasy Tactics will feature script changes, even claiming the script will have additions and adjustments, so if you’re new to Ivalice or want the classic story of Final Fantasy Tactics as you remember it from War of the Lions you should stick with this classic version. For those that may want to experience these new changes, the updated version with full voice acting is where you’ll probably want to go.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles will be released on September 30th, 2025 for Playstation 5 and is available to preorder right now.
