A new Arc System Works fighting game, huh? They’re really cranking those out, but this one has a big name attached to it: ArcSys’ new fighting game is offically going to be Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls.

Featuring Marvel superheroes you all know and love with an updated ArcSys spin on their designs (they gave a V fin to Iron Man). So far the characters revealed are Iron Man, Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Star Lord, Ghost Rider, Dr. Doom, and Storm. You might be thinking, “That’s 8 characters! That’s a lot for a preview!” well the reason for that is because this is going to be a whopping 4v4 fighting game.

That’s right, if you thought Marvel vs Capcom 2 and 3 were chaotic for their 3v3 teams apparently ArcSys is trying to take things one step further. If their work on Dragon Ball Fighters Z is any indication, you can be sure that Fighting Souls is going to have a lot of love and passion put into it for the characters and the animations are going to be gorgeous (the game balance, probably less so if DBFZ and Strive are any indication) and with the ever expansive Marvel universe at their fingertips there’s no limit to what kind of characters they can include.

The 4v4 is likely going to be daunting for a lot of new players or more casual fighting game players, but as the post trailer interview states, you can basically play the game with only 1 character but 3 assists and never tag out (which suggests this game might be 1 health bar instead of 4) , watch the full post trailer interview here, it’s pretty interesting.

The fighting game genre is pretty saturated lately, but ArcSys is a big name in the scene, and Marvel is a big name in both the scene and the wider world as Marvel Rivals can attest, so Fighting Souls might really make a splash in the genre. Fighting Souls will be releasing for Playstation 5 and PC in 2026.
