Announced today during the Xbox Games Showcase event, the next game in the zombie-survival series State of Decay will be coming to Xbox Series X consoles. Titled State of Decay 3, the announcement trailer for the game included a short cinematic of a woman armed with a crossbow in the winter hunting a zombified deer. The setting for the cinematic appears to be in an arctic environment, but no further information about the game’s location has been revealed yet.
Primarily focused on its open-world gameplay, the original State of Decay and its sequel were set in zombie-filled towns as players build a community, add members, and search for answers about the zombie hordes. Acquired in 2018, along with other companies like Obisidian Entertainment and Playground Games, Undead Labs remains the primary developer of the series, following the studio’s last release of State of Decay 2.
