Since August of last year, Chucklefish CEO Finn Brice has been giving fans a taste of their upcoming title. While eagerly awaiting news about the latest updates to their other mega-hit RPG Stardew Valley, he kept tweeting hints about another title in the early stages of development.
It began with this cryptic image tweeted in August of last year:
There was another tweet later that same year with more information about the game, referring to it as Spellbound. The game was being pitched as Stardew Valley meets Harry Potter, a colorful RPG in the same style as Stardew Valley, but with more magical themes.
As it turns out, Spellbound was not the official title of the game. Brice took to twitter today to make the official announcement of the game’s title. The tweet was posted early today with a brief comment and new image from the game:
Now we know! WitchBrook is a wizarding sim which will allow players to attend a magical school. Visually it looks quite similar to Stardew Valley, but it will be taking influences from Garth Nix’s Old Kingdom series, Studio Ghibli films, and even the popular cartoon Steven Universe.
Based on his following tweet, it seems the game is still some time away, but it is nice to have an official title as we receive more news about the game. We will keep our eyes and ears open for more news on this latest offering from Chucklefish. While waiting for WitchBrook, you can keep putting all of your hours into Stardew Valley and its upcoming multiplayer update.
