Lim Yo-Hwan, more commonly known for his pseudonym “BoxeR,” is allegedly leaving e-Sports. One of the highest-paid competitive gamers to date, Lim Yo Hwan is officially stepping down as the coach of perennial runner-up SK Telecom T1. Many within the StarCraft and e-Sports community take this as a sign of semi-retirement, although Lim asserts that the absence is only temporary. Lim cites health concerns as the primary reason for stepping down as coach.
The South Korean gaming superstar burst onto the scene during StarCraft: Brood War’s rise to popularity. Lim utilized the Terran race, a choice that impressed many fans due to the perception that the Terran race was a poor choice against the Zerg or Protoss races. In 2010, he transitioned over to StarCraft II and eventually began coaching entire teams.
Lim is married to South Korean actress Kim Ga-Yeon. One of his most recent, translated interviews after retirement, can be viewed here.
