Remember when Blizzard was working on StarCraft Ghost, a third person shooter that would give the StarCraft universe an entirely new perspective? It didn’t quite pan out, with Blizzard canceling the project after years of confused messages to the public. However, thanks to the modding community, players will get to experience the StarCraft universe from a third person perspective after all.
This comes in the form of a custom map for StarCraft II, titled Psionic Warfare: Total Destruction. The map is available for free download from the Blizzard Arcade.
In this map, up to four players take on the roles of a squad of Dominion marines who have psionic abilities thanks to a Xel’Naga artifact. They must defend themselves against waves and waves of Zerg in a cooperative “Last Stand” format.
You wouldn’t know that Psionic Warfare was a mod just by looking at it, as it has enough features and graphical fidelity to qualify as a standalone release. It features upgraded graphics, functional third person shooter mechanics, five different classes, four game modes, four maps, and full voice acting.
Because of its enhanced visuals, you’ll need a beefier system to run it smoothly. If that’s beyond your ability right now, then the below gameplay video will have to suffice.
