Early next month in October Star Wars Battlefront will be getting a beta as announced today by Electronic Arts. The beta will be available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Origin for PC.
The beta will feature Walker Assault on Hoth, a massive 40 player battle pitting the Rebels vs. The Empire based on the iconic battle in The Empire Strikes Back. Walker Assault also will give players the chance to play as hero characters Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader depending on their respective sides. The beta also will include the co-op map Survival Mission on Tatooine, in which the player and a friend fight back waves of Imperial forces.
In addition, a brand new mode titled Drop Zone will be included in the beta. No details have been given about this mode but EA has stated they’ll “be sharing more details on Drop Zone in the weeks ahead.”
Any gameplay progress, achievements, characters, character data, and other value or status indicators won’t carry into the main game.
Also revealed today was the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience which will be available during the beta. The Battlefront Companion experience will include the strategic card game Base Command, which allows player to gain in-game Credits that will unlock Star Cards, weapons, and other collectables in the main game. Battlefront Companion also lets players inspect their stats and progression, manage loadouts, and connect with friends who play the game. The Battlefront Companion experience will be available at the game’s official site as well as in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
