Seems like it’s been around since the beginning of time. At least in the gaming industry that is. The game we’re talking about here is Tetris.
Don’t we all have a fond memory of picking up our Gameboys or going to the arcade to take a whack and see how many lines we could make more than our friends? Or how about even nowadays with things like Tetris Friends on Facebook distracting college students from a professor’s lecture? Well now, the creator of Tetris Alexey Pajitnov hopes to recapture all that is fun with his original project with a new title for iOS devices called Marbly.
The new title is published by WildSnake Software and features a match three kind of play style. The nice little perk about the title is that it’s free to download and has nifty little modes to play such as time, score, and number of moves challenges. To top it all off, there are 180 daily puzzles designed by Father Tetris himself.
Players can earn coins to unlock new content by competing in the daily challenges. Coins can also be purchased and used for hints, solutions, undo moves, and full restarts. The goal is to clear the whole board, and limiting the number of restarts by tying them to purchases may put off some players. It’ll take a little time for some word of mouth and advertising to get the game to launch on the scale that Tetris has had taking over the world. But hey, consider yourself in the know and get to playing with your marbles before everyone else does.
