Marvel’s Avengers, the action-adventure title being developed by Crystal Dynamics for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, recently released another “WAR TABLE” digital livestream in which publisher Square Enix took an in-depth look at all the content the game’s beta will offer. The beta will launch nearly a full month before its September 7 release. Within the beta, players will be able to take on several single-player missions as well as co-op missions that can be played with AI teams or with other players online. In one mission, players assume the role of Kamala Khan (known as Ms. Marvel) as she works alongside Hulk to infiltrate an AIM base. The stream also revealed that beta players can link their Square Enix Members and Epic Games account in order to unlock special cosmetics in Epic Game’s Fortnite.
The Marvel’s Avengers beta program starts on August 7, and it’s exclusively for PlayStation 4 owners who have pre-ordered the game until August 9. On August 14, the beta will be available to all PS4 owners until August 16. On August 21 through August 23, the beta will be available to all PS4, Xbox One, and PC players. A Square Enix Members account is required to play the beta on all platforms, and players who register one for free will receive a special Thor nameplate within the final game.
“We really want to give fans an in-depth look at what they can expect when they get their hands on the beta starting on August 7th,” said Scot Amos, co-head of Crystal Dynamics. “I couldn’t be more proud of the work the team has done getting Marvel’s Avengers ready for players, and can’t wait to see their reactions.”
The livestream also revealed the first character that is to be added to Marvel’s Avengers after release, and it’s none other than the bow-wielding Clint Barton, better known as Hawkeye. In an original story arc inspired by the comics, players will wield Hawkeye’s signature high-tech bow and trick arrows in a series of solo or co-op missions.
Marvel’s Avengers launches on September 4 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and it’s also set to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. You can check it out here.
