Square Enix celebrated the 10th anniversary of the first Nier game. Square Enix held a concert, where the game’s music was put on display and later had a conversation with the creative minds behind Nier. Over the course of the conversation, it was revealed that Nier will be receiving a full remaster and re-release. The game is called Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139. A short trailer was also revealed.
Players not in Japan received the game simply called Nier, but in Japan Nier received two different versions. Nier Gestalt for Xbox 360, and Nier Replicant for PS3. The differences are minimal, where the main story of Nier Gestalt follows a middle-aged man, Nier, as he searches for a cure for his daughter Yonah while Nier Replicant follows a teenage boy, Nier, who is looking a cure for his sister Yonah. Nier Gestalt is also the version released abroad and is current canon, but Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 remasters Nier Replicant and will be that games first release outside of Japan.
The developers hesitated to call Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 a remaster instead of calling it a full rebuild. In addition to the graphical and audio update that would be expected of a remaster, Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 will have brander new dialogue, character, and a new possible ending. there is yet to be a look at the game yet. Square Enix did not give a release date yet, but they claim that the game should be out by 2020 is everything goes to schedule to have it come out on Nier’s anniversary.
In addition to Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 Square Enix announced Nier Reincarnation, a mobile spin-off of the Nier title of iOS and Android. Limited details have been released and the game does not have a release date. Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 is slated for an Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and PC release with no information on a next-generation console release.
