Square Enix is bringing a strong Final Fantasy presence to PAX West 2025, complete with multiple developer panels and a special community event. Fans attending the Seattle convention from August 29 to September 1 will have the chance to hear directly from some of the most influential figures behind Final Fantasy Tactics,  The Ivalice Chronicles, Final Fantasy XIV Online, and more, according to a press release.

The PAX West schedule kicks off on Friday, August 29, with “Storytime with Naoki Yoshida” from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Main Theatre. The Final Fantasy XIV Producer and Director will share his experiences as a developer, offer insight into the evolution of the industry, and reflect on his work across major Final Fantasy titles, including XIV and XVI. A live Q&A session may also take place.

On Saturday, August 30, at 2:00 pm in the Blue Dragon Theatre, “The Making of Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles” will bring together Game Director Kazutoyo Maehiro and Art Director Hiroshi Minagawa to discuss the enhanced version of the classic tactical RPG launching September 30. Hosted by voice actor Ben Starr, the panel will share behind-the-scenes stories and give fans a deeper look at how this modernized edition came to life. Attendees will also receive a special Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles branded pin, while supplies last.

Sunday, August 31, at 11:00 am in the Main Theatre will feature “The Relationship Between Game Design and Art Direction” with Naoki Yoshida and Hiroshi Minagawa. The two developers will explore how visual style and gameplay design shape immersive worlds, sharing their creative process and inspirations.

Outside the panel rooms, Square Enix will host its own Community Night on Saturday, August 30, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at a location to be announced via Eventbrite. The event will celebrate Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XVI, Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, and upcoming releases including Final Fantasy Tactics, The Ivalice Chronicles (out September 30), Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake (out October 30), and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (launching this winter for Nintendo Switch and Xbox platforms). Fans can expect photo opportunities, giveaways, and appearances by Yoshida, Maehiro, Minagawa, and other guests. Tickets will be required for entry and will be available in limited quantities.

Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles is a modern recreation of the 1997 tactical RPG classic, developed by a team that blends original creators with new talent. Final Fantasy XIV Online, which has over 30 million registered players, continues to expand its decade-long story with the Dawntrail expansion released in July 2024.

Square Enix’s presence at PAX West 2025 ensures fans will have plenty to see and experience, whether they’re seated in a panel, meeting developers, or getting hands-on with the publisher’s upcoming lineup.
