Square Enix announced today the release date of the next Final Fantasy game to have a Pixel Remaster. Final Fantasy IV is the most recent of the series to receive the remaster treatment, following the first three pixel remasters that were released in June. Originally released in 1991 for the SNES, this remaster will become available September 8, 2021. Along with a style update, included will be some quality of life updates including an improved UI, auto-battle options, and the ability to save at any time, and new audio overseen by the original composer.
The Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remake will be available on Steam and mobile platforms. Some pre-purchase incentives are exclusive musical arrangements, limited wallpapers, and a 20% discount. All 6 Final Fantasy games slotted for the pixel remaster are a part of a bundle on Steam, to be launched on their respective release dates, and will likely all be available during 2021 based on the past launch trajectory. These games will join the 15 main and numerous other titles in the iconic Final Fantasy series.
In the release date announcement on August 24, 2021, Square Enix also released several screenshots of the upcoming Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remake. These screenshots include visuals of various landscapes, characters, dialogue, and UI. This remake will be a good celebrati0n of Final Fantasy IV‘s 30 year anniversary.
