Sportsfriends Coming To PS3 And PS4 On May 6 And PC ‘Some Weeks After’

Indie Developer Die Gute Fabrik, announces Sportsfriends, a compilation of four fun filled sports games designed for local multiplayer action, and will be released on May 6 in America for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 for $14.99. “Some weeks later” the Linux, Mac, Windows PC versions of the game will be available. Die Gute Fabrik was planning to release Sportsfriends last fall, then aimed for January before delaying the game it again.

“We’re still hoping to release a backers-only Windows/Mac/Linux beta in conjunction with the PlayStation release so that everyone can start playing,” said Die Gute Fabrik.

Sportsfriends will be supporting cross-buy on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 version, but only in one direction, as in if you buy the PS3 version you will also receive a copy of the PS4 version at no cost, and not vice versa. The game includes sports games like Johann Sebastian Joust, a fighting game in physical space where you will have to physically jostle your opponents controller, while also defending your own, and it is also music-based; Super Pole Riders, a QWOP-like pole vaulting game for two players; Hokra, a two-on-two sports game; and BaraBariBall, a fighting-oriented sports game.

With Johann Sebastian Joust can be played on the PlayStation Move, but you can play all four of the games with the controllers on PS3 and PS4. On the PS3 version you can play with Johann Sebastian Joust with up to seven players and on the PS4 with the DualShock 4, you are able to support up to four players and also with DualShock 4 controller it will take advantage of the speakers and LED. On the PS3 you will be allowed to play your own music on Johann Sebastian Joust.

Die Gute Fabrik also confirmed that the Kickstarter backers for the game, who requested a PS3 copy will be given a PlayStation Network code that allows players to unlock both the PS3 and PS4 versions.

“We literally couldn’t have made Sportsfriends without all our enthusiastic Kickstarter backers and fans. We’re super proud of what we’ve made, and we don’t think it’ll disappoint.”
