1047 Games has rolled out the first major post-launch update for Splitgate 2, introducing some of the most highly requested features from the community, including the competitive Ranked Arena mode, weapon mastery progression, and new cosmetics tied to the latest seasonal battle pass. The update is now available across PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One, according to a press release.
With nearly five million downloads since its launch, Splitgate 2 has steadily grown its player base through a mix of fast-paced, portal-based combat and frequent content updates. This latest patch is the largest yet, expanding the competitive and cosmetic systems while refining gameplay systems in response to player feedback.
The centerpiece of the update is Ranked Arena, a new high-stakes competitive mode that allows players to test their skills in modes like Splitball, Firecracker, and Hotzone. Players must accumulate 100,000 XP in core modes to unlock Ranked Arena, where performance determines seasonal rank progression. Exclusive weapon charms and badges are available based on each player’s highest rank achieved per season, rewarding both individual performance and long-term commitment.
Also introduced are Weapon Mastery Challenges, which add a new layer of progression beyond traditional attachment unlocks. Once a weapon’s attachments are fully unlocked, players can begin tackling unique mastery objectives for each weapon. These range from kill-type requirements—such as double kills with an assault rifle or crouch-slide kills with a heavy pistol—to precision-based goals using burst rifles. Completing these challenges unlocks three tiers of exclusive skins for each weapon: Carbon, Gold, and Proelium. Future updates will expand the system with new tiers and additional weapon types.
The update also adds Chapter 2 of Season 1’s mini Battle Pass, offering a wide range of cosmetic rewards for players who opt into the Premium track. The pass includes three new character skins, eleven weapon skins, a portal skin, and a variety of emotes, sprays, charms, and profile customizations. Players can also earn 500 Splitcoin and 60 Proelium coins as part of the reward bundle. The Premium Battle Pass is priced at approximately $4.99.
A new map, Simulation Anomaly, joins the rotation for the Takedown playlist, while additional refinements and balance adjustments round out the patch. Full patch notes and additional details are available via the official Splitgate website.
1047 Games has emphasized that this is only the beginning of Splitgate 2’s post-launch roadmap, promising regular content drops and feature updates informed by player input. With Ranked Arena and mastery progression now live, the team continues to build out its vision for the future of portal-powered competitive shooters.
