Splitgate 2 will be exiting its open beta and officially released on June 6th. The game’s 1.0 launch will be available on PC through Steam, Windows store, and Epic Game Store, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
The official trailer, released on June 3rd, is cinematic featuring several different character models, guns, and gameplay features. The cinematic gave fans a taste of the feeling and adrenaline of the futuristic Splitgate 2 world. Although the trailer doesn’t include any gameplay, the game’s open beta footage is widely available online to be watched.
According to a recent press release, Splitgate 2 will be free to play and will release with the portals feature, allowing players to place up to three connecting portals that allow for rapid and dynamic movement across the map. Many of the game’s current features can be found on the open beta page, key feature of which is dubbed “The Lab,” in which players can build their own amps and game modes. The game is also set to release with an extensive list of weapons, maps, skins, events, competitions, and more.
Splitgate 2’s Twitter page presented a content roadmap that also teased a surprise that will only be revealed on the day of the game’s launch. Particularly with the team featuring developers and talents from popular franchises as well as individual games such as Halo, Apex Legends, Valorant, Call of Duty, and more, developer 1047 has had a positive reception.
Splitgate 2 serves as their follow-up to their 2021 game, Splitgate. The team’s vision has been refined in this game compared to Splitgate, improving upon the criticisms of the original game. A few notable changes are the introduction of factions, smaller maps, the new portal system, and the use of Unreal Engine 5.
