Spider-Man’s Map Will Be Much Larger Than Sunset OverDrive’s

In a post on Twitter, Insomniac, the developer of the Ratchet & Clank series, has confirmed that the map for their new Spider-Man game will be several times larger than the map for Sunset Overdrive’s “Sunset City.” The Xbox exclusive was released back in 2014 and was said to be “the biggest game” that the developer had ever created; this was also the last open world title that the studio most recently released. However, Insomniac community director James Stevenson recently stated that, “The map size is probably four to six times that of Sunset Overdrive.” Insomniac also added that Spiderman’s setting will be it’s own world set apart from New York. The world will have it’s own characteristics that will “surprise people.”

Sony presented some gameplay of the coming title at this years E3. Some combat and swinging mechanics were shown off in the demo, as well as the new comic book protagonist Miles Morales revealed to be making an appearance in the game. We also got a good look at some mini boss battles, cutscenes, and the busy city of Manhattan. It looks like we are now getting an idea on just how far we can take Spidey in this new game.

More news about the upcoming superhero title is set to come at this year’s Disney D23 Level Up event, which will take place Saturday July 15 at 1:00 p.m. PDT and will be live streamed on Twitch and Facebook. Insomniac has not revealed an exact release date for the game at this point but it is said to be arriving sometime in 2018.
