Spider-Man Has One of the Highest Platinum Trophy Completions for Exclusive PlayStation 4 Games

Spider-Man has turned into a runaway success for the PlayStation 4, garnering critical acclaim from multiple outlets, and becoming the fastest selling game of the year thus far. This is already an impressive feat in and of itself, but it looks like there’s another milestone for the webslinger to achieve, or in this case, complete. A user on Resetra.com has pointed out that the Spider-Man Platinum Trophy Unlock Rate is currently sitting at a 10% completion. For most video games, this statistic wouldn’t bat an eye, but for a huge, AAA, sandbox title that released barely a month ago, this is an insane accomplishment. To put this in perspective, this means that one out of ten players have played through the game and unlocked the Platinum Trophy already.

For those who aren’t aware, the Platinum Trophy is an exclusive PlayStation 4 completion mark that verifies on your online profile that you have completed all challenges and trophies for that specific game. While the numbers seem low for completions sake, Gameinformer.com has compiled a list of other notable PlayStation 4 exclusive games with Platinum Trophy Unlock percentages, which include Horizon: Zero Dawn, Infamous: Second Son, Bloodborne, God of War, and Persona 5. The highest percentage of unlocks on that list currently sits at 6.1%, with the game being Horizon: Zero Dawn. As stated earlier, Spider-Man has a 10% Platinum Trophy completion, while the other games mentioned have been out for months and years, and they haven’t even come close to that number.

It’s important to note that these numbers were taken with actual PlayStation Network Profiles on the PlayStation 4 as opposed to websites that utilize the very same statistic with a slight delay when it pulls that information. In addition, this completion rate was taken with PlayStation 4 exclusives, so games with higher percentages, such as any game by Telltale and indie games like Undertale, aren’t factored into this analytical discussion. On top of that, Spider-Man is a massive video game in terms of size and scope. Video games like this often encourage the player to go and find every little nook and cranny until they have picked the entire map clean. Although, after taking a gander at the Spider-Man trophy list, it’s also easy to see why so many people have achieved the Platinum Trophy already. Once the player has all of the story trophies, its basically cleanup time for any trophies you may have missed, most of which will involve running around the city until you have found everything.

Regardless, the fact that the game has such a high percentage for completion already is nothing short of astounding. It’s a testament to Insomniac Games and all of the effort they put into making this game, and it also shows just how fun and addicting the gameplay is.  Spider-Man is now available for the PlayStation 4.
