Disasters have the side effect of bringing out the best in people, so it should come as no surprise that Games Done Quick have sprung into action. Games Done Quick (GDQ) usually hosts two charity fundraising events every year, Awesome Games Done Quick in the winter, supporting cancer research, and Summer Games Done Quick, in the summer, supporting Medicos Sin Fronteras (Doctors without Borders). Between these two events the GDQ crew has managed to raise more than twelve million dollars.

At these events, Games Done Quick gathers the best speed runners from around the world to, well play games spectacularly well and quickly, exploiting bugs, glitches or just plain skill to pull off impressive times, smash world records, or just amuse the public with neck to neck races. During all of this, they host interviews with great twitch streamers like @Spikevegeta, offer raffle prizes and put forth incentives that can make a runner’s life more difficult, or at least more amusing. Within hours they had announced that they would in fact be partnering with the Houston Food Bank, and once they requested runner submissions, they received over fifty submissions an hour

Harvey Relief Done Quick will last two days, from 8pm on Friday September 1st, until 8pm on Sunday September 3rd. The list of games, incentives and runners has been posted on twitter. The lineup includes runs of classic games such as Battletoads, MegaMan X, Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past, and Super Metroid.  We will also get to see some amazing races such as Undertale Nuetral Ending, Resident Evil vs. Resident Evil 2 and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island ‘any percent warpless’.

Of course any talk about GDQ would be incomplete without mentioning their partners in crime.
