Spears & Spirits, an upcoming game by Go North Studio, dropped its first teaser trailer earlier yesterday morning. In the teaser, Go North Studio reveals a prophecy central to the game, some of the presumed setting as well as the presumed main character.
Amidst burning trees, the narrator describes how the “spirits” told him of a “girl” that “will bring misfortune to her people,” in exchange for “great power.” While the narrator details this, a girl watches the fire spread, moving towards a group of small tents. She raises a red mask to her face, as clouds and winds move quickly overhead. As she fits the mask on, a bright light occurs, and parts of it swish around. In a long shot, a chasm is revealed in front of the village, and as the mask shines, it bursts and a monster erupts from it, as the narrator explains the girl can call upon “all spirits.” The trailer ends on a mysterious note, noting that “her fate” isn’t set in stone.
Spears & Spirits’ Steam about page, goes into more detail about the game, it’s “an RPG with turn-based combat and deck-building mechanics” noting that the game will be focused on the girl named “Erumi” who’s the star of the prophecy. The game follows her actions as she tries to “change her fate.” As of now, the developers haven’t revealed too much about the game, but the game’s Steam announcement states that the devs have planned “developer diaries” to reveal upcoming game mechanics such as “A two-tiered combat system, Deep resource management, The impact of shamanic cards on the flow of battle.” While there isn’t any news on a prospective release date yet, with the dev diaries, and upcoming plans, those interested have plenty to look forward to while they wait. The game is also available to wishlist on steam.
