South Park: The Fractured But Whole Coming October 2017

Ubisoft and South Park Digital Studios have released a new trailer for South Park: The Fractured But Whole, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2014’s South Park: The Stick of Truth.  Alongside a whole bunch of new footage and gameplay, the trailer finally revealed the game’s planned release date: October 17, 2017.

In a new post on the UbiBlog, Ubisoft shares that The Fractured But Whole will be coming to retailers in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia this October, available for play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.  Developed by Ubisoft San Francisco in tandem with South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, The Fractured but Whole will function as the “outrageous sequel” to The Stick of Truth, thrusting the player back into the role of the “New Kid” in a new, yet somewhat familiar, setting:

With crime on the rise in South Park, the streets have never been more dangerous. As the sun sets on the quiet Colorado town, havoc and chaos unleash a reign of terror and the seedy underbelly of the city comes alive. The town needs new heroes to rise! Eric Cartman seizes the opportunity to save the town and create the best superhero franchise ever, his own Coon & Friends with himself as the leader, The Coon.

In South Park: The Fractured But Whole, players will be able to create and shape their own unique superhero, choosing from unique costumes, abilities, and story elements.  A new, revamped combat system will allow players to “master space and time” on the battlefield, as well as introducing new looting and crafting options for players to create their own set of specialized battle equipment.

The Fractured But Whole will be available in a number of different editions: Standard, Gold, Steelbook Gold, and Collector’s Gold.  The Gold Edition will feature a standard copy of the game, plus the Season Pass and a set of in-game costumes and a bonus perk at the start of the game.  The Steelbook Gold Edition will feature all this plus a set of lithographic art prints from South Park Studios and come in a special Steelbook case, while the Collector’s Gold Edition will also include the lithographic prints, as well as a six-inch replica figurine of “The Coon” made by UbiCollectibles and ArtToyz.  In addition, all pre-orders will receive “Towelie: Your Gaming Bud”, an in-game assistant who will “provide helpful and hilarious advice and commentary to players at key locations throughout the game.”

And finally, all players who purchase The Fractured but Whole before January 31, 2018 will also receive a copy of South Park: The Stick of Truth for no additional cost; if you pre-order the game now, you can get immediate access to The Stick of Truth and play it all the way through before Fractured even drops in October.
