It didn’t take long for Soul Calibur VI to get an official release date. Bandai Namco has announced that the game will release world wide on October 19, 2018. The announcement was shown in a story trailer during E3 this week as was some more gameplay and special editions of the game that you can pre order.

In terms of actual story, the trailer is fairly vague on details, however it was revealed by Bandai Namco that the story takes place in the 16th century, and that it will “set players on a voyage of discovery as they uncover events from the original SoulCalibur to learn hidden truths.” This more or less confirms that the storyline will at least take place somewhere near the beginning of the series, presumably when Soul Calibur and Soul Edge have split apart. Soul Calibur VI was revealed during The Game Awards 2017 showcasing beautiful visuals and the excellent weapon fighting system that fans of the series know and love.
A few months later, a guest fighter was announced, Geralt of Rivia, from the popular Witcher video game series. You can check out Geralts reveal trailer here:
Banda Namco also announced two special editions that fans can pre order today. The Deluxe Edition includes physical copy of the game, the season pass which gives owners three new playable characters, two armor packs, the original soundtrack on disc, and a metal case for the game that also has a built-in soundbox that features four audio voice clips from the game, and is priced at $99.99. The Collectors Edition includes everything that the previous edition has and a 12 inch figure statue of Sophitia, a 120 page collectors art book, and a collectors box that houses all of the items within it, and is priced at $149.99.
Soul Calibur VI is playable at E3 this week, and will officially release on October 19, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
