Sony’s State of Play Returns Next Week, Will Focus on Third Party News

Sony’s special livestream event, State of Play, is set to return next week on Wednesday, October 27 at 2:00 PM PDT/5:00 PM EDT. This one will focus on third-party-related titles for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and will go for approximately 20 minutes. The official post states that this will consist of titles that have already been announced, as well as “a few reveals from our partners.” In short, this will pertain only to non-Sony titles that are playable on both of their respective systems, as opposed to the PlayStation exclusives that we usually see.

Considering the amount of third-party titles that grace Sony’s consoles, this could mean anything. Of course, we did just get the out of nowhere reveal for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Editionwhich was confirmed for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Interestingly enough, it was revealed that Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition would be releasing on PlayStation Now starting December 7, so it’s possible that Rockstar Games will touch upon that little tidbit.

Sony’s last official State of Play was back in July, which also consisted of third-party developers and Indie titles. This was followed up by the massive PlayStation Showcase last month, which showed off all of the upcoming titles releasing through the Holiday 2021 season and the rest of Winter. It also unveiled some serious surprises, such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remakeand the Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection which was also announced for PC. Either way, a State of Play always brings excitement and anticipation, and we can’t wait to see what Sony has in store for us next week.

The State of Play will officially air next Wednesday, October 27 at 2:00 PM PDT/5:00 PM EDT on the official PlayStation Twitch and YouTube Channel.
