Earlier today, Sony had its “PlayStation Lineup Tour”, a pre-Tokyo Game Show conference. During the conference, there were several new looks at upcoming games and several new game announcements. There were new trailers for Kingdom Hearts III, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Dead Or Alive 6. The Kingdom Hearts III trailer revealed footage from Big Hero 6, while the Kingdom Hearts VR Experience was also revealed. Although nothing much was released in the trailer, it looks like you’ll be able to experience certain moments throughout the series in full VR glory. The Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice trailer revealed new footage from the game including new areas, new weapons, new enemies, and several possible boss encounters.
Alongside new trailers for some of the most popular upcoming games, the conference also showcased several Japanese titles such as Project Awakening, Samurai Spirits, Gungrave Gore, and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered. The most prominent title that got a lot of time during the conference was the next game from the studio behind the Yakuza series.
Project Judge, or Judge Eyes as it is known in Japan, looks a lot like Yakuza. It’s got crazy, over-the-top action, a narrative that looks to be as gripping and interesting as the Yakuza series, and several mini-games that can only come from the creators of Yakuza.
In Project Judge, players will take on the role of Takayuki Yagami, a former lawyer who tries to solve several murders that seem to be connected from his past. Besides the brawler action combat similar to Yakuza, players will be tasked to do things such as donning several disguises, looking for clues, taking pictures, gathering evidence to solve mysteries, and tailing suspects.
Project Judge will come to Japan in December and a demo is available for Japanese players today. The game will be out in the West in 2019. These are just some highlights that have come out of PlayStation’s pre-Tokyo Game Show Conference. The 2018 Tokyo Game Show runs from September 20-23.
