Over the past few months, the world has been taken by storm by one of the biggest mobile games since people downloaded Flappy Bird. Of course the game in question is Pokemon Go which helped raise Nintendo’s stock for a bit and has become one of the most talked about mobile game ever. After seeing all of this success, Sony CEO Kaz Hirai said that they are “aggressively getting into”(via Polygon) mobile gaming. So what kind of mobile game could we expect to see from Sony in the near future? Could we possibly expect a Metal Gear or an Uncharted mobile game to come out? As of now Sony has not announced any titles that are in the works for mobile, but one can hope for something as great as these franchises.
According to GameSpot, Sony has said that “Right now, these [mobile] games are planned for release in Japan and Asia only on iOS and Android devices; it’s possible they’ll be extended to the west in the future, but this was not announced.” So although Japan and Asia will be the only countries so far to receive these new mobile games, there is a possibility that if the games become a major hit over seas that they will also be released in the West. We will just have to wait and see what Sony plans to do, as it is likely that they will spread to other countries since Pokemon Go has shown just how big one mobile application can be world wide.
Besides announcing their plan for mobile gaming, Sony is expected to launch the new PS4 Neo this week. There is supposed to be another statement released on Wednesday so an actual date will probably be stated in that along with a date for the PS4 slim.
