One of the next highly anticipated games is God of War Ragnarok. The sequel to God of War (2018) was first teased prior to the official release of PlayStation 5. In another PlayStation Showcase, Sony Santa Monica and PlayStation shared the first look at gameplay. The trailer also revealed a little bit of the story with Kratos and Atreus embarking on a mythic journey for answers and allies before Ragnarok arrives. One of the biggest questions for the game is whether or not God of War Ragnarok actually releases this year or not. This has been a lot of speculation that it is coming out this year and certain events may support this. Recently, there have been rumors of a State of Play-focused God of War Ragnarok event that is supposed to happen tomorrow sharing more info about the game including a potential release date. However, they may not be happening as Sony Santa Monica’s Cory Barlog took to Twitter saying that they will share information “at the earliest possible moment they can be.”
Earlier this year, PlayStation and Sony Santa Monica released information regarding Ragnarok’s accessibility features. This was the first step in many thinking that the game is getting released this year. As history has shown, When accessibility features were revealed in games like The Last of Us Part II and Horizon Forbidden West, the game launches shortly thereafter. Another case that may prove that the game is coming out this year is in the form of the game getting rated in South Korea. Getting rated by the South Korean Rating Board is one of the first video game rating groups that give an official rating before a game’s release. Regarding getting more information about the game, Cory Barlog wrote:
Reports have suggested that God of War Ragnarok will be released in November. Whether or not that is true is something we’ll have to wait and see.
