Santa Monica Studio has been hard at work with what is arguably one of the most anticipated Sony exclusives of 2022, God of War Ragnarok. It’s been a while since we had any real concrete information in regards to the development, and while a potential release date has been leaked, neither Santa Monica nor Sony have made any official comments on this. Santa Monica did give us new update though in the form of a blog that outlines all of the new accessibility options that players will be able to use on the title. There’s over 60 options to choose from, making this upcoming entry one of the most changeable titles on the console market.
Santa Monica Studio Lead UX Designer Mila Pavlin goes over some of these features and also mentions that God of War Ragnarok will borrow some of these features from the PC iteration of 2018’s God of War, as well as the PlayStation 5 upgraded entry. Some of these features include auto sprinting, and an aiming reticle with different options. That might sound a bit silly for a third-person over the shoulder title, but actually provides players with a much more clearer area of where to attack, block, and run. Some of the newer features include updates to subtitles and captions, direction indicator for specific gameplay sound effects, navigation assistance, audio prompts, and an updated color contrasting.
One of the biggest additions to this is the ability to completely change the controller mapping system. Players will now be able to select from a different array of layouts that include several changes to the button schemes, as well as making your own remapping setup for however you’d like to play it. With so many choices to go with, God of War Ragnarok is already shaping up to be one of the most accessible console titles of 2022, and it hasn’t even released yet. Hopefully Sony and Santa Monica Studios will provide and update on that in the coming months.
