In a new Tweet and posted on the official Blog, Sony revealed to have another PlayStation 5 event scheduled for Wednesday, September 16th. The most harrowing (and theorized piece of information) is the release date and price for the console. Even with Sony recently opening pre-registration for PS5 pre-orders, there is still not a set date or price for the highly anticipated console. This event is also set to include updates from all first-party and third-party partners. As Sony says, they are holding the event, “as one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!)”.
As many others have speculated (especially from the soon to be opening of pre-orders from the Xbox Series X), the price for the disc-less digital PS5 and the regular, disc using PS5. This announcement comes shortly after Sony reportedly lowering the price of the PlayStation 5 when the price news for the Xbox Series X released. Now, they seem to not have a choice but to fit between Microsoft’s already set price range of $500 USD and $300 USD. Even with the difference between the two PlayStation 5 functions, there’s a doubt that the price between the two will have that much of a gap.
We only know a few things about the PlayStation 5 so far, as Sony has done a pretty good job of keeping everything relating to the console under wraps. We know that it will feature a DualSense 5 controller, along with having an output resolution of up to 8K. With over forty games being announced for it so far, we also know that the console has advanced visual effects that consist of real-time ray tracing.
Sony’s PlayStation 5 event is set to take place on Wednesday, September 16th at 4 PM ET. The event is set to last around forty minutes and will be broadcast on both Twitch and Youtube.
