Leading developer and publisher Nexon on Thursday announced its global collaboration with SEGA to bring Sonic the Hedgehog characters to KartRider Rush+. The collaboration will run now through June 30 and will give players the chance to play as Sonic for free as well as earn rewards in themed events. Shadow, Tails and Knuckles will be available for purchase through special packs. On May 5, Eggman will join the party.
The collaboration comes a month after the theatrical release of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film. As part of the event, players can complete daily quests in sonic-themed quests to earn items such as a Sonic outfit set and eventually a temporary or permanent Sonic character cart. Players will also be able to collect shards during their races to trade them for exclusive in-game items. Other ‘Souvenirs from Sonic’ include a Sonic Balloon, Sonic Blue Aura, Sonic Driftmoji, a Sonic skateboard, Ring Headgear and a Sonic Ring decoration. Other Sonic characters can be purchased through the Red Ring Pack.
KartRider Rush+ is a free-to-play mobile game enjoyed by over 300 million players worldwide since it launched in May 2020. The game comes with several gameplay modes such as Speed Race, Arcade Mode, a Ranked Mode, Time Trial or Story Mode where characters are tasked with stopping the treacherous Pirate Captain Lodumani from performing evil deeds. KartRider Rush+ was developed by Nexon America, a company that delivers outstanding free-to-play online PC and mobile games. The United States subsidiary of Nexon applies its strengths for uniquely western audiences. It has sustained franchises such as MapleStory and Mabinogi for over a decade.
KartRider Rush+ has done collaborations in the past such as with LINE FRIENDS, a brand designed by k-pop star Jisoo. In October 2021, KartRider Rush+ joined PUBG Mobile to bring its theme to the battle royale game. With SEGA, iconic speedster Sonic joins the race. There is also a Sonic Racing game that can be accessed with an Apple Arcade subscription or Sonic Racing Transformed on the Google Play store.
